Square d’Orléans 9
Chopin moved from rue Pigalle to Square d’Orléans 9. He takes a room in George Sand’s apartment, and two-room music studio where he delivers lessons and composes.
Square d'Orléans was a broad apartment complex around a beautiful yard with a fountain. When the composer and the writer moved in, their neighbourhood reflected the artistic climate of the district (often described as "New Athens"). Among others the following pianists lived here: Friedrich Kalkbrenner, Charles Valentin Alkan and Pierre Zimmermann. All of them performed concerts with Chopin at various occasions (paraphrase and quotation from William G. Atwood The Parisian Worlds of Frederic Chopin, Musica Iagellonica / The Fryderyk Chopin Institute 2005, p. 31-32, in Polish).
