Concerto in E minor and thoughts
Chopin in his letter to Tytus Woyciechowski: "Today I am trying the second Concerto [in E minor] with complete orchestra without trumpets and bass drums. […] Kurpiński and Soliwa will be present together with the whole best world of music, but those men, except Elsner are not trustworthy to me. […] I have to hurry up and make sure about Elsner, Biela[w]ski, music stands, and mutes about which yesterday I forgot completely; without them Adagio would be a failure, though, its popularity cannot be great, as I believe. Rondo is effective and Allegro is powerful." He also describes unfortunate event on the street: "When I think about myself, I become so miserable that I loose myself in thoughts. If I have something in front of me, something which interests me, I will not notice horses trampling me, and I almost had such a situation on the street one day on Sunday, hit by an unexpected look in a church, in a moment of some nice numbness, I have left immediately and for about a quarter I didn’t know what was happening to me, having met Parys, the doctor, I didn’t know how to explain my confusion, I had to blame a dog which stepped on my way and I tripped. Sometimes I am so crazy that it’s terrible."
