Rue Tronchet 5 arrangements
Another letter by Chopin to Julian Fontana concerning arrangement of his new apartment (at Rue Tronchet 5): "I would like to thank you very much for your good, friendly, not English but Polish soul. Choose the wallpaper like the former one at my place tourterelle [turtledove – pearl like], only shiny, polished, both rooms downstairs and green, dark, not a wide strip to decorate. For the corridor choose something different, but solid. However, if there are more beautiful, and fashionable papers, which you like and you know that I would like them as well, then take them. I prefer smooth, most modest and clean more than usual, simple and smug. That is why I like the pearl color very much, because it is not extravagant, nor simple. Thank you for the room for my servant, it is necessary. In terms of furniture, the best is that you do it. […] When it comes to bed and desk, it should be given to some carpenter. […] But the flexible mattress from my bed should be fixed if inexpensively, if expensively – then it is not necessary. Ask them to shake out well the chair and everything."
